With advancement in technologies, the world is becoming increasingly smaller, and international communication is becoming more common in industry. International communication presents additional challenges, including differing languages and dialects and different cultures, communication styles, and time zones. In this video, industry leaders address some of these issues. They identify experiences they've had communicating internationally, as well as ways they've addressed some of the challenges they've faced. They provide tips to young engineers, including avoiding slang, talking formally, and making clear and concise statements when communicating. The main take-away they provide is the necessity of identifying the complexity of international communication and realizing there are extreme, as well as subtle, cultural differences that need to be addressed.
